Spirit Street

Inside a broken clock
Splashing the wine
With all the rain dogs.

Another early morning. Had a decent coupla nights lately. I like being nocturnal. I wish I was crepuscular so I could say I was crepuscular, but you don't get everything under the tree. Maybe if this Uni thing doesn't get me anywhere I can get a night job where I'd get paid to be bored.
Sort of sorting myself out. Again. For the hundredth time. Straightening my room, getting my sleeping schedule on track for this week's shifts at the place of work, trying to at least eat something that isn't made to fast food recipes.
And I played through Half Life, Half Life 2 and Half Life 2 Episode 1. They're all great games. Especially in the first one I think there's too many situations where you're left thinking 'What did the level designer want me to do next'. That's personal taste, though. I mean, try and tell Popcap that puzzle games aren't popular. The other thing is that since everything is so tightly scripted, events lead you in straight lines from beginning to end. There are deviations, but only to find extra health and ammo. Again, that's the deal you get with a Half Life game. Seriously, you're too busy fighting soldiers or running from monsters for it to be an issue. It's not like, say, Dungeon Siege where it literally gave me a headache. The game elements, including the same scripting that makes the straight line necessary, make the gameplay so goddamn compelling.
It'll be interesting to see how Episode 2 turns out, where they're apparently trying to create open environments with multiple paths. It might even be enough to get me to buy the game.
